With the holiday season in full swing, we thought we’d remind everyone that our favorite ‘hemiparasitic plant” (aka mistletoe) is protected in our parklands. This means, while it is fun to “kiss under the mistletoe” (virus aside!), if it is found inside Chino Hills State Park or on the Puente Hills Habitat Preservation Authority Preserve-removing it is illegal. So, leave it to its job of stealing water and nutrients from a host plant or shrub and consider buying some fake mistletoe you can use for many years to come!
