Yesterday the Esperanza Hills appellate court victory was announced to Yorba Linda residents and today we get to announce Madrona’s court victory.
YES! We just received word from our attorneys at Shute, Mihaly, and Weinberger that the 4th District Court of Appeals ruled in our favor on the Madrona project.
We are absolutely thrilled!
The court agreed with our position, stating that the Project violates the City of Brea General Plan, specifically its Woodland Protection policy, and that the Environmental Impact Report should have considered the grading standards in the Carbon Canyon Specific Plan.

The developer may opt to ask the Court to reconsider the decision or appeal it to the Supreme Court. We are still understanding what happens next, but we wanted to get the word out as quickly as possible about the victory.
In the meantime, we want to celebrate in block party fashion. Please join us Sunday, October 22 at 4 PM in front of the Thompson’s home: 275 Verbena Lane in Olinda Village to toast the victory with friends. We’ll supply the pizza, but you’ll need to bring your own drink and chair to relax. Please let us know if you plan to be there by emailing us.

Thank you all for your support, donations, participation in our fundraisers, and energy fighting this poorly planned project. Your engagement and support allows us to do this work.
I’d also like to show my deep gratitude to the Stop Madrona Team for their years of hard work: Eric Johnson, Jebb Harris, Bev Perry, Melanie Schlotterbeck, and Duane and Luz Thompson. All the team meetings, strategizing, and hard work really paid off!
