What is biodiversity? It’s the all of species that exist on this planet. This ranges from single celled organisms all the way up to the top of the food chain with apex predators. Hotspots of Biodiversity are where endemic species (species found nowhere else) are threatened with extinction. The California Floristic Province is one of 36 global hotspots of biodiversity. Today we celebrate all of the plants, animals, insects, and more that have evolved on this planet.
