Thursday 10:28 PM – OCFA reports new acreage count at 2,662 and containment at 60%. Six structures have burned. Two helicopters are doing air drops. Crews on scene doing mop up. 8:58 AM – OCFA reports it is holding steady at 2,500 acres, but now there are 520+ firefighters on-scene. At sunrise the fixed wing aircraft started up again. Proposed Flyover Connector From 241 to 91 Freeway

Per Supervisor Lisa Bartlett’s Fifth District E-Newsletter: “The Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA) and Caltrans are proposing to build a direct, median-to-median, tolled connector to link the northbound 241 Toll Road and eastbound 91 Express Lanes and to link the westbound 91 Express Lanes to the southbound 241 Toll Road. This “Express Connector” would decrease traffic congestion, enhance safety by reducing weaving across lanes, and improve toll road and toll lane access in Orange and Riverside Counties. Numeorus projects along the 91 freeway in both Riverside and Orange Counties jeopardize the only place wildlife can safely cross under the 91 freeway at Coal Canyon. From river riprap to freeway widenings, flyovers to the Santa Ana River Interceptor line, this geographically and topographically challenged landscape has a lot of threats. ALERT: Rains Cause Mudslides Post-Fire

Fires, steep hillsides, and rain — a recipe for trouble? The 91 Freeway was closed this morning due to a mudslide that spanned all eastbound lanes. Reports indicate the mud came from the unstable burn areas (of Chino Hills State Park).
