Continued press on the OCTA Environmental Mitigation Program success. Chino Hills State Park manages 296 acres adjacent to the park that was purchased as part of this program. Congrats again! And, thanks to Friends of Harbors, Beaches & Parks (FHBP) for the leadership.
Hills For Everyone is part of the M2 Environmental Coalition working to protect additional lands through the OCTA Environmental Mitigation Program. So far, two restoration projects within and one acquisition adjacent to Chino Hills State Park has occurred. We’ll be there to celebrate the signing of the Conservation Plans tomorrow!
In 2006, Hills For Everyone was one of 30 conservation and community groups to support Orange County’s Renewed Measure M (a 1/2-cent sales tax measure) because it provided funding for conservation projects. The 296-acre Hayashi Preserve (shown left) was acquired in May 2011. It borders Chino Hills State Park. Tomorrow, the Orange County Transportation Authority signs a county-wide Conservation Plan permanently protecting this land and 1,000+ acres elsewhere. Congrats to all the partners involved! We had so much fun at the #BreaCentennialParade. Thanks to all our volunteers for showing up to demonstrate what we can do in the State Park (hike, ride, camp, birdwatch, etc.) And many thanks to Damon McJunkin with Chino Hills State Park for driving the ranger vehicle with the mountain lion on top.
