Illegal Trail Use, Unacceptable

This weekend we went exploring in the Puente Hills Habitat Preservation Authority‘s Powder Canyon Preserve. While it was a fantastic hike, we were really quite disturbed by the number of illegal (also called social or volunteer) trails that had popped up. The Preserves and our natural lands were inherited with specific trails. Only through careful planning, design and maintenance are trails added in the right locations. Mountain Lion Spotted in Park

From Chino Hills State Park staff: Still getting reports of mountain lion sightings in and near Chino Hills State Park. These predators roam miles through vast territories and are an essential element in the food chain and health of the ecosystem. Be alert and aware while enjoying the park! You can obtain more information on mountain lions on the California Department of Fish and Wildlife website.

Brea Brush Fire on 4th of July

In case you hadn’t heard there was a 2-3 acre brush fire in Carbon Canyon (Brea side) around 2:30 this morning (July 4th). Below are a few photos. Damp morning conditions, low winds, and low temps appear to have aided the fire agencies working the fire. It appears the fire burned the OCTA ‪‎Hayashi‬ Preserve. Most cities surrounding Chino Hills State Park do not allow fireworks and neither does the Park. The weeks before and after the Fourth of July have the most incidents of illegal fireworks starting fires in the Park. Please report any suspicious or illegal activities in the State Park by calling 911. Report that it is occurring in Chino Hills State Park.
