Grand Jury warns against closing any of the Orange County Landfills. Brea is a “host city” with the Olinda Alpha Landfill. The contract will end in a few years and Brea may opt to renegotiate terms to the continued use and impact of the landfill and its associated operations. Orange County Superior Court Judge Claster ruled in favor of residents and environmental groups fighting a dangerous hillside development (Esperanza Hills) next to Chino Hills State Park above Yorba Linda. He ordered that all project approvals be revoked and the Environmental Impact Report to be rewritten. He also gave the County a deadline (of mid-July) for complying with the order.
