LA County Parks Sues for Park

You may recall the County of Los Angeles has plans for a park atop the now closed Puente Hills Landfill. Things have gone sideways and plans for the park have reached incredible numbers. The Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts has released information on its “park related” obligations now that the County has sued the agency to fund the entire park. Puente Hills Park Moves Forward

With the Puente Hills Landfill now closed, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisor’s voted on it’s “next iteration.”  In a 5-0 vote the project’s Environmental Impact Report and Park Master Plan were accepted.  This means trails and other amenities like a gondola, amphitheater, bicycle skills course and more will be added onto the old landfill site.  The new park includes about 117 acres.   Read the article published by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Puente Hills Landfill Park Decision

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will be deciding the outcome of the proposed Puente Hills Landfill Park Master Plan Project and its associated environmental impact report.  The project lies within the 1,365 acres of the former Puente Hills Landfill near the 60 and 605 freeways. Puente Hills Landfill Plans

Join residents, organizations, agencies and the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation as it unveils the proposed plans for the Puente Hills Landfill site. Puente Hills Landfill Park (Not So Much)

The Puente Hills Landfill was to be converted to a passive park after the landfill’s closure. LA County Parks staff however, has thrown in everything but the kitchen sink in its proposal for the new county regional park. There are parking lots, gondolas, a giant concrete slide, a zip line, two BMX bike skills courses, stair climbs, bike rentals and an amphitheater.
