Another announcement for progress being made at the State Park. We partnered with the Chino Hills State Park Interpretive Association and Department of Parks and Recreation to design, get approval for, and (today) start the installation of the three new Welcome to Chino Hills State Park signs. In case you missed it on 12/31/20, the California Department of Parks and Recreation released the Final Road & Trail Management Plan for Chino Hills State Park. This plan illustrates what trails and roads are authorized by the park… meaning everything else is NOT authorized (they are illegal) and you shouldn’t be on it.
As our parks and beaches begin to reopen, remember to keep your distance and wear your mask as you pass by others. Check out this great video by the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. A draft of the Road and Trail Management Plan (RTMP) for Chino Hills State Park (CHSP) is now available for review and comment. A public input meeting will be held at the Discovery Center inside the park from 6 – 8 pm on Monday, July 22, 2019. At the public meeting, maps of the planning recommendations will be made available for review and staff will be available to answer questions and receive comments. Hike a remote and relatively unknown loop through the back hills of Brea in the Chino Hills State Park. A 4 mile loop, 1,300’ gain, along a trail crossing Sonome Creek. Meet 9 am in Olinda Village at 200 Verbena Ln (and Olinda Dr (not Place); off Carbon Canyon Rd) Bring water, a snack, and sturdy shoes. Rain within 48 hours cancels.
