Three basic steps that create a foundation of knowledge is reviewing agendas, writing comment letters, and testifying before the decision making body. Hills For Everyone does all of these across four counties and ~12 cities.
Once you have some of the basics down, it will be much easier to identify a handful of wildlife tracks. Just look at how different (and interesting) some of these tracks are. All of these animals are found in the Puente-Chino Hills Wildlife Corridor.
Parks are a great place to practice identifying and tracking wildlife. Consider taking a class or buying a field guide before you venture out. Be sure the field guide is for animals in your area. Then, in the field, practice, practice, practice.
