Hills For Everyone has joined the broad coalition of more than 100 local community organizations, children’s advocates, educators, advocates for seniors, and business and environmental leaders that have come together to pass this essential measure.
Proposition A is known as the Safe, Clean Neighborhood Parks, Open Space, Beaches, Rivers Protection, and Water Conservation Measure, which incorporates an annual 1.5 cent tax per square foot of building area on property owners. That works out to be less than $23 per year for an owner of a 1,500 square foot home. Previous taxing measure for parks have expired.
In general, it continues funding for parks, open spaces, and water resources. But more specifically, Measure A aims to: maintain safe, clean parks and playgrounds, reduce gang activity, keep senior recreation centers, and protect open space, beaches, and rivers.
We believe this will be a key funding source to buy and save the Shell-Area land above Rowland and Hacienda Heights.
